Circle of Conversion

This is the methodology we at Scarlet Technologies follow to help you to increase your conversion rate.


STEP 1 - Understand Current Scenario

During this step a thorough study is carried out of your website to find out the current metrics of your site. Some of the things that would be calculated are the current conversion rate, take rates, repeat visitor share, committed visitor share, reject rate etc.These important metrics go a long way in understanding how your current website is performing and areas where the site can be improved. They help us in understanding how visitors browse through your website and the areas of concern.We also work towards understanding your markets, customers and their perceived need for the products or services that you provide. Understanding this would help us in working on your site to cater to this perceived need. Getting your site to answer to this perceived need of your customers would lead to increasing the number of visitors who convert into your customers.

STEP 2 - Objectives

The next step would be to define what objectives you would like your site to achieve. Would you like your website to get more users to sign up for a newsletter, more people to download a particular product, increase sales, increase page views etc.These objectives would act as the benchmarks we need to achieve while making the necessary changes to the site to achieve higher conversion rates.

STEP 3 - Planning

During this step the complete website is thoroughly studied and the various changes that need to be done to help you to achieve the objectives defined in STEP 2 are outlined. We work on this plan and go it over it a number of times to be sure that the changes we plan to implement would help users towards completing the objectives defined by you in STEP 2.During this step we plan out the changes in the layout, design, navigation, content/copy, and etc., which would work towards increasing the conversion rate and achieving the desired objectives.

STEP 4 - Implementation

Once the plan is finalized the changes as desired are implemented across the website. We upload the changes to your website and confirm and test all the changes that have been completed.

STEP 5 - Repeat the process

Once the changes have been implemented on the website, the whole circle is repeated again to study the effect the changes had on the conversion rate and other metrics of the website. This would help us in carrying out further changes to improve the conversion rate further.

Help Them Find What They Are Looking For

One of the main reasons that people leave your website is because they cannot find what they are looking for on your website. They have entered what they are looking for in a search engine. The search engine throws the result where you because of your excellent SEO are ranked in the top results for that keyword. The user clicks on your link in the search engine and reaches your website. Then BLANK he or she cannot find what he or she is looking for on the page he visits or the next page and he is out of your website back to the search results to see another site he can visit.

Check your web statistics and if the average viewer is viewing only 1 or 2 pages per visit then you seriously need to take a look at your website content. Cause although the visitor has made it to your site has not been able to find what he is looking for and leaves the website.

Your website content should have the same keywords that users have used to visit your website through search engines. When visitors find the same keywords they have used on search engines on your site they relate to the website more and get the feeling they have landed on the right website and are automatically inclined to click further into your website.

Users need to be reassured that they are on the right website if you want them to click further into your website. You have to make them feel sure that your website contains what they have searched for on search engines. Once they see the same content they are pleased and more willing to continue browsing and finally purchasing from your website.

Make your customers feel comfortable and secure when they visit your website

Shopping in a brick and mortar store for customers is a whole lot different from them shopping online. In a normal shop this customer knows that he or she can pick up anything and pay for it and walk out of the store. However online the same customer has to first make the purchase and then wait for the company he or she has made the purchase from to ship the product to them. He or she therefore has to be made to feel that the company that they are purchasing from online is a trustworthy company who after collecting their money would actually ship the product to them. The onus to prove that the website is owned by a trustworthy company lies entirely on the website owner.

The website is the face of your company (and you). Its through your website that people judge your company and make a decision to buy a product from your website. People will only make a purchase on your website if they feel secure that you are trustworthy company to whom they can give out their credit card details and would ship the product to them.

As a result of this you have to actually go out of your way to ensure that every person who visits your website feels safe and secure as he or she navigates throughout your site. On every page of your website that this visitor browses you have to ensure that the page adds to the security that the user wants to feel before taking the decision to make the purchase on your site.

  • Display a toll free number or at least your telephone number prominently through out your website so that visitors feel that they can call you for any questions they might have and know there is a human person available at the end of the line.
  • Display the complete mailing address and any registration numbers of your company given to you by the your Government on your website.
  • If possible display a photo of your office/building so that customers can know that you actually are present at a physical location and are not just another online business.Get your site certified by companies like Verisign, Thwate etc that check your site up and allow you to display a logo stating that your site is a secure site to shop on.
  • The look and feel of your website also plays an important role in making your customers feel at ease as they navigate throughout the site.
  • Provide an easy navigation to your visitors so that they are not lost as they go through your website.
  • Prominently display all costs including the shipping cost right at the beginning with the price of the product. Customers do not like surprises at the end.
  • Test your site thoroughly to ensure that it does not have any broken links. Customers instantly leave if they come across any broken link.
  • Make it a point to tell your customers that the data you collect about them will not be given out or misused in any way.
  • Display testimonials from your existing clients prominently. Visitors like to know that they are not the first people to visit your website and that other have visited your website and made purchases before them.
