Delta Air Lines reports record online sales
Delta Air Lines said on Wednesday (12 January) that it saw record sales on its website the day after it announced a reduction in its most expensive fares.
The airline did not however reveal the effect of the increased sales on its revenues and earnings.
Delta said in a statement that on 6 January Delta.com recorded more than USD10m in daily revenue, the number of tickets sold through the site doubled from an average day, and at peak volume Delta.com ticket sales totalled nearly USD1m per hour over a period of several hours.
On the day of the announcement, 5 January, Delta reportedly saw a 300% increase in single-day traffic on its website. In the five days following the launch of the new pricing ticket sales on the website increased by 60% compared with the same period a year ago.
